EICMA – more than just motorcycles

After covering the major news from EICMA in previous issue, I took the opportunity to take a closer look at what often ends up in the shadow of the motorcycles – the gear and gadgets around them. And sometimes, that’s exactly where you find the real surprises.

EICMA is, of course, all about motorcycles – but for those who take the time to wander between the stands, the show is also a treasure trove of new technology, smart gear and well-crafted products. Major global brands sit side by side with smaller niche manufacturers, and it’s often the latter who deliver the most unexpected surprises.
Here are three products that caught my attention at this year’s show.

Nexx – Portuguese helmets with innovative design

Nexx hails from Portugal and in recent years has become known for its innovative design and bold styling. All of their helmets are produced in their own factory in Amoreira, which allows them to experiment with materials, aerodynamics and new solutions in ways that larger manufacturers sometimes struggle to match.
At the show they displayed everything from lightweight composite helmets to modular adventure models and advanced sports helmets with integrated communication systems. Nexx continues to be a brand for riders who want something beyond the obvious.

Modeka – functional and affordable motorcycle clothing from Germany

Modeka is a German family-run company with more than 75 years in the industry, having built its reputation on producing well-made motorcycle clothing at very reasonable prices. They primarily target touring and adventure riders, combining European design with technical materials such as Sympatex membranes, SAS-TEC protection and well-thought-out ventilation solutions.
At EICMA they presented several new sets with function and comfort in focus – perfect for anyone wanting a premium feel without the premium price tag. Modeka is well known for their women clothes.

Gaerne – Italian boots with racing DNA

Gaerne is one of Italy’s most renowned manufacturers of motorcycle boots, based in Montebelluna – the same region where many of the world’s finest footwear makers are found. They’re known for uncompromising quality and for developing equipment in close collaboration with professional riders in motocross, enduro and adventure disciplines.
Their boots always stand out for their perfect balance of robust protection, comfort and that unmistakable Italian craftsmanship. At EICMA, Gaerne showcased several updated models with new colour combinations, improved fit and materials built to withstand extreme wear.
