June thoughts
And then there’s that favourite road. You know exactly which one. The sequence of bends that never grows old, no matter how many times you ride it. The one you’ve replayed in your mind throughout the winter, over and over again. Now you’re finally there. No pressure, no rush, just flow. One corner leading naturally into the next, as if the road itself knows the way.
It’s not the speed that makes it special.
It’s the rhythm.
And then there’s the coffee stop. That inevitable pause which, truth be told, is half the experience. Helmet off, a little breeze through your hair, a cup of coffee that somehow tastes better than it should, and that pastry which is always “worth it”. Conversations that simply happen. Easy and uncomplicated. Someone talking about the route they’ve just ridden, someone else already planning the next one.
That’s when it hits you.
It’s not just about riding.
It’s about being present in the moment.
Sometimes it really is this simple.
And perhaps that’s exactly why it’s so good.
